Obituary for Barthelmess Joseph Botto, Jr. "Bart"

BOTTO, Barthelmess Joseph, Jr. “Bart”, age 65, a lifelong resident of Garfield, died on August 11, 2022. Bart worked as the sign maker for the City of Garfield Department of Public Works in the Traffic Division for 37 years retiring in 2021, was a member of the Garfield Cadets, EPOCHS and Pleebs. He was a firefighter with the Garfield Volunteer Fire Department Company 2 for 24 years serving as Chief Engineer, Engineer, and Lieutenant before joining Company 2, he was with Company 1 for a few years, and a member of the NJ Exempt Firemen’s Association. Bart is predeceased by his father, Barthelmess Botto, Sr. He is survived by two devoted children, Laura Botto and Robert Botto and wife Heather, his loving mother, June E. Botto, a cherished granddaughter, Lainey, five beloved siblings, Barbara Glynn, Catherine Porcoro (Matthew), June Ann Botto, Cynthia Greulich (David), and Edward Botto (Heather), and his dear friend, Sandra Marriner. Visiting Sunday 2 to 6 pm. The funeral is Monday, August 15, 2022, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home at 9 am followed by a 10 am mass at Our Lady of Mt. Virgin RC Church, Garfield. In lieu of flowers the family will accept donations. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Saddle Brook.
