Obituary for Janet Mary Shovan

Janet M. Shovan, age 65, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 31, 2020 in her home surrounded by her loving family after several years of living with cancer.

She is survived by her mother, Helen Shovan, husband, Geoff Page, two sisters, Patricia Megalos and Carol Smith, two daughters, Veronica Raggi and Kristin Carlson and husband Evan, and her three cherished grandchildren, Avery, Siena, and Cole. She was also a loving aunt, cousin, and friend to many.

Janet was a thoughtful and tender soul who cared deeply for her closest family and friends. Her strength and fortitude battling cancer through an alternative and holistic approach inspired many. Even in her most difficult moments, she wanted to make the most of every day.

Janet first worked for her father's electrical business as an accountant. As her interests expanded she came to enjoy eastern medicine and ran a successful shiatsu business. Her proudest achievement and what brought her the most joy in life was being a mother and a grandmother. She never ceased to marvel at the beautiful nature and unique personalities of her grandchildren.

Spending time at the beach and vacationing with family near the ocean provided Janet many memories. She felt most happy and relaxed in the comforts of her home in Wanaque where she lived for 42 years. She was passionate about gardening and joyful when ‘playing in the dirt’ and taking care of her plants. She also loved going for walks at Skylands Manor, for a ride in the canoe with Geoff, and having a great meal or buttery pastry. In more recent years, she enjoyed contemplating Buddhist perspectives, listening to peaceful meditation music, and mandala coloring.

The family is having a private cremation and an intimate memorial service will be held at a later date. Should friends desire, a memorial contribution may be made to a favorite charity of Janet's:
