Obituary for Rose Phillips (Violante)

PHILLIPS, Rose (nee Violante), age 91, a lifelong resident of Garfield, died on January 7, 2022, Rose started her career with the Garfield Police Department as a secretary in the Detective Bureau, then worked 21 years for the County of Bergen in the Records and Deed Department retiring in 1995. In her retirement, Rose went back to work as a secretary at the preschool for the Garfield Board of Education for 18 years retiring in 2015. Rose was active in her Garfield Community being an integral piece of the Garfield Historical Society, Garfield Women’s Club, Garfield Democratic Club and served on the Bergen County Committee. She was also a member of the Cornerstone Church in Carlstadt. She is predeceased by her husband, James in 1997, She is survived by her three devoted children, Paula Hoban, Theresa Maglione and husband Larry, and Karen Viglione and husband Joseph, five grandchildren, James and wife Toni, Jason, Joe Jr., Dayn and wife Carly, and Brianne, six great-grandchildren, Paige, JT, Jase, Tayler, Phillip and Charlotte, and three siblings, Nicholas Violante and wife Marlene, Mildred Smith, and James Violante and wife Patricia. Visiting Monday 4 to 8 pm. Please wear a mask while visiting. The funeral Tuesday will be private.
