Obituary for Francesca Spinella (Di Salvo)

SPINELLA, Francesca (nee DiSalvo), age 80, of Lodi, died on January 22, 2022. Born and raised in Marineo, Sicily-Italy, she emigrated to the United States in 1968 living in Garfield, Lodi and Wayne before returning to Lodi seven years ago. Francesca was an extraordinary seamstress, enjoying hand embroidery and knitting in her free time. She also loved traveling the world and going on her religious pilgrimages. Francesca was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Virgin RC Church, Garfield and Our Lady of the Valley RC Church, Wayne, was a longtime and active member of the Saint Ciro Society serving as President in multiple terms and was a member of the San Pio Prayer Group, the Garfield AARP, all of Garfield, and the Lodi Senior Citizens. Francesca is predeceased by her beloved son, Antonino in 2021, and a brother, Giuseppe DiSalvo. Francesca is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Epifanio, three devoted children, Graziella Valenti and husband Joseph, Maria Huth and husband Dan, Francesco Spinella and wife Rosalie, nine cherished grandchildren, Joe, Frank, Julia, John, Gianna, Leo, Sienna, Luca and Landon, two dear siblings, Antonio DiSalvo and wife Rosaria, and Concetta DiSalvo and husband Franco, and a sister-in-law, Anna DiSalvo. Visiting Tuesday 4 to 8 pm. Please respectfully wear a mask while at the funeral home per the family's request. The funeral is Wednesday, January 26, 2022, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home at 9 am followed by a 10 am mass at Our Lady of Mt. Virgin RC Church, Garfield. Entombment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Saddle Brook. In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting donations to St. Ciro Society of Garfield Scholarship Fund.
