Obituary for George G. Rothfritz

ROTHFRITZ, George G., age 88, of Garfield, died on February 1, 2022. Born and raised in Carlstadt for 24 years, he settled in Garfield 64 years ago. He served in the US Army during the Korean War decorated with the Korean Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Presidential Citation. George worked for Railway Express Agency in Passaic as a truck driver and then Greater NY Box in Clifton as a route driver retiring in 1997. In his retirement, he was a crossing guard for the Garfield Police Department stationed on Banta Avenue and Madonna Place by School 4. George was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Virgin RC Church and Our Lady of Sorrows RC Church, Garfield where he was a member of the Usher Society. George also was a 15 years member, Captain, Lieutenant and Engineer for the Garfield Volunteer Fire Department - Company 4 and was a member of the NJ Exempt Firemen’s Association and the Korean War Veterans Association TaeJon Saddle Brook Chapter, American Legion Post 1000, Trenton, and the Garfield VFW Post 2867. George is predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Claudette C. (nee Cimpko) in 2006, and his parents, George and Anna Rothfritz. He is survived by four children, Richard and wife Lena, Timothy, George S. and wife Ann Marie, and Janice Rothfritz, six grand children, Tiffany (Joe), Kristy, Elizabeth (Miguel), Erica (Kenny), Steven, and Amanda, one great-grandchild, Isabella, and two brothers, Peter Rothfritz (Linda) and Charles Rothfritz (Margaret). He is also survived by his beloved dog, Lilo. Visiting Sunday 2 to 6 pm. Please wear a mask while visiting. The funeral is Monday, February 7, 2022, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home at 8 am followed by a 9 am mass at Our Lady of Mt. Virgin RC Church, Garfield. Entombment Garden of Memories, Paramus.
