Obituary for Joanne Maria Carbo Gardner
Joanne Maria Carbo Gardner, age 65, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, May 16, 2021. She was a native of Bergen County, NJ and for the last several years was a resident of Mine Hill, NJ.
Joanne worked as a Registered Nurse throughout NJ. She was a free spirit who loved to dance no matter who was watching, enjoyed sitting on the beach to watch the waves, and reminding us all that she was a strong Carbo. Joanne was also a cancer survivor after battling Melanoma and Leukemia. Her dream was to return to Bergen County to resume her nursing career. But most of all, Joanne loved her children and grandchildren fiercely, always referring to them as her babies.
Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, Vincent and Fay Carbo. She is survived by her loving children, Brianna Guido (Anthony), Marisa Gardner (Daniel), Jennifer Gardner (Antonio), Jarred Gardner, and Rebecca Gardner; her four cherished grandchildren, Vincent, Alessia, Ilina and Emilia; two dear siblings; sister, Denise Miller of Myrtle Beach, SC; brother, V. James Carbo of Whitefish, MT; as well as nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 22, at Aloia Funeral Home. Following this viewing, a funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Most Holy Name RC Church, 99 Marsellus Place, Garfield, NJ officiated by Monsignor Reilly. Joanne will be laid to rest with her parents at a separate time.
