Obituary for Joaquin "Jack" Lastra

LASTRA, Joaquin “Jack”, age 93, of Saddle Brook, died on May 20, 2023. Born in Detroit, Michigan, he was raised in Weehawken and West New York raising his family in Wood-Ridge settling in Saddle Brook 27 years ago. Jack served in the U.S. Merchant Marines from 1947 to 1959, and was a truck driver over 45 years retiring in 1990 from Carolina Trucking in Elmsford, NY. He was a member of the Saddle Brook AARP, The Teamsters Union - NY Local, Saddle Brook VFW, Hasbrouck Heights Elks Lodge, and he was an avid fisherman and hunter with the Stagrest Hunting Club and Blackrock Fishing Game Club, both of NY State. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 27 years, Rosemarie (nee Ferrante), three beloved children, John (Cathy), Robert (Susan) and Susan Fantacone (John), 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a step-daughter, Debra Tufaro. He is predeceased by his first wife, Clara (nee Paccione) in 1993, and his brothers, Lorenzo, Celestino and Fernando. Visiting Wednesday 4 to 8 pm. The funeral is Thursday, May 25, 2023, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home at 8:30 am followed by a 9:30 am chapel service. Entombment George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.
