FUSCO, Joseph Peter, age 97, of Berkeley Heights, passed peacefully in his home in the company of family on July 3, 2023. Joe was raised in New Providence, NJ, the eldest of 11 children. Joe enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1943, serving in all five arenas of World War II, and was honorably discharged in 1946, earning the European African Middle Eastern Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and Victory Medal.
After the war Joe met the love of his life, Joan Elizabeth Hayward. They married, lived in Newark, NJ and had two sons, Joseph Franklin and Daniel Patrick. Joe relocated his family to Berkeley Heights, NJ where he and Joan raised their sons and enjoyed life. They vacationed at the Jersey Shore, camped in New Hampshire, and boated on local lakes and bays. Joe was an avid Harley Davidson motorcyclist and enjoyed going to bike rallies or just hitting the road for the love of the ride. He was also a self taught guitarist and would play for hours.
Joe is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Dan and Barbara, and his granddaughter, Paige Hayward Parsacala. He is also survived by his siblings, Charlie, Mary, Johnny, Rebecca, Dorothy (“Dot”), Pearl and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife, Joan, son, Joey, parents, Nicholas and Helen, siblings Nicholas (“Junior”), Tommy, Patrick, and Donald (“Danny”).
Joe will be deeply missed by his family.
