Obituary for Louis Scalera

SCALERA, Louis, age 81, of Garfield, died on February 23, 2020. Born in Passaic, Louis lived in Garfield 27 years, Lodi 53 years, and Florida 15 years settling back in Garfield in 2020. He was the owner and operator over 30 years of D & D Catering in Lodi retiring in 1997, and was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Virgin RC Church, Garfield. Louis is predeceased by a grandson, Vincent Dellapenta in 2012, and a son-in-law, George Dellapenta in 1995. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Concetta “Connie” (nee Marino), two beloved children, Donna Dellapenta and Darleen Boyaci and husband Kaya “Tony”, four cherished grandchildren, Tanna, Sarah, Michael, and Mandi, an adored great-granddaughter, Elainna, and three dear siblings, Paula Wyka, Madeline Sylvester and late husband John, and Ronald Scalera and wife Lucretia. Visiting Thursday 4 to 8 pm. The funeral is Friday, February 26, 2021, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home at 10 am followed by a 11 am mass at Our Lady of Mt. Virgin RC Church, Garfield. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Saddle Brook. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Vincent Dellapenta Scholarship Fund.
