CASTELBUONO, Maria (nee Salerno), age 84, of Washington Township, died on August 9, 2023. Born and raised in Bolognetta, Sicily-Italy for 20 years, she moved to Garfield for 15 years settling in Washington Township 49 years ago. Maria owned and operated Italian Village Deli in Garfield for ten years retiring in 2002. She was a member of the St. Anthony Society in Garfield, and a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Virgin RC Church in Garfield. Maria is predeceased by her beloved husband of 61 years, Salvatore in 2020, her twin sons, Peter in 1994 and Anthony in 2002, and siblings, Cira Benanti and husband Carmelo and Rosolino Salerno and wife Carmela. She is survived by her three loving children, Rosalie Conti and husband Anthony, Cira Koukos and husband Chris, and Fernanda Rosiello and husband Steve, six adored grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Brandon, Alyssa and husband Lee, Danielle, and Stephanie, and her siblings, Luciano Salerno and wife Maria and Antonina Vilardi and her late husband Matteo. Visiting Sunday 2 to 6 pm. The funeral is Monday, August 14, 2023, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home at 8 am followed by a 9 am mass at Our Lady of Mt. Virgin RC Church, Garfield.
