Obituary for Onofrio Louis "Lou" Russo

RUSSO, Onofrio Louis “Lou”, age 92, of Elmwood Park, died on October 12, 2022. Born and raised in Garfield for 27 years, Onofrio moved to Little Falls for seven years before settling in Elmwood Park 58 years ago. He was a physicist and professor over 55 years at New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark retiring in 2020, a parishioner of St. Leo’s RC Church, Elmwood Park, and a member of the American Physical Society. Onofrio is predeceased by his parents, Michael and Loretta Russo, and a brother, Michael J. Russo. He is survived by his brother, Edward A. Russo, nieces and nephew, Veda Russo-Milin and husband Jeremy, Jerry M. Russo and wife Joni Evertt-Russo, Laura Russo and Karen Russo, nine great-nieces and nephews, Nicole, Anthony, Lorelei, Jacqueline, Michael R., Danielle, Loretta, Atia, and Michael M., and he was the great-great uncle of Gianna, Frankie, Maddie, and Stevie. Visiting Sunday 2 to 6 pm. The funeral is Monday, October 17, 2022, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home at 8:30 am followed by a 9:30 am mass at St. Leo’s RC Church, Elmwood Park.
