Obituary for Patricia A. Nunno (Amann)

NUNNO, Patricia A. (Amann), age 90, of Garfield, died on April 30, 2022. Born in Newark, she lived in Stockholm 26 years, settling in Garfield 64 years ago. Pat graduated as a Registered Nurse from Hackensack Hospital School of Nursing in 1954 working as an ER Nurse for 15 years with Hackensack Hospital. That’s where she met police officer, Rocco G. (Rocky) Nunno.


Pat moved to Saddle Brook General Hospital for 23 years before retiring from the Garfield Department of Health in 1994 as the City Registered Nurse. Pat was a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church in Garfield volunteering her entire life at the church. She was a member of the Parish Life Committee, Feast Committee, Past President of the Home and School Association, Pastoral Council, was an Eucharistic Minister: she was a beloved member of the Lazarus Committee helping all the bereaved parish families for 16 years. In addition, Pat was a Board of Director, Recording Secretary and long-time member of the Garfield AARP.


She is predeceased by her loving husband of 41 years, Rocco G. "Rocky" in 1999 and her son, Edward C. Nunno in 2017. Patricia is survived by three devoted children, Michael Nunno, Patricia Nunno-Roque and husband Alex, and Susan Huffman and husband James, four cherished grandchildren, Lindsey Roque, Steven Rocco Roque, Phillip Huffman, and Nancy Celeste Huffman, many nieces, nephew, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends. She loved her covid rescue puppy, Fred and was the favorite “Aunt Pat” to dozens of nieces and nephews.


Due to the Covid-19 virus, the visitation has been cancelled for Thursday. The Funeral Mass will be 11 am on Friday, May 6, 2022 at Our Lady of Mt. Virgin RC Church, Garfield. Internment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Saddle Brook. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Nicholas Nunno Foundation and The Gift of Life Foundation, Paramus Rotary Club, PO Box 1003, Paramus, NJ 07652.
