Obituary for Paul Raineri

RAINERI, Paul, age 74, of Elmwood Park, died on August 27, 2023. Born and raised in Cattolica Eraclea, Sicily-Italy for 11 years, Paul emigrated to the United States living in York, Pennsylvania for 28 years. He then moved to Elmwood Park 35 years ago. Paul was in the US Navy during the Vietnam War serving three tours of duty on the USS America and USS Forrestal Aircraft Carriers, and was a member of the South Hackensack VFW - Post 8005. Paul's career started out in the restaurant industry where he owned and operated several Pizza Restaurants. Paul then worked in the accounting department for 25 years at JVC Electronics in Wayne before retiring. In his retirement, he was a crossing guard at the Fair Lawn Middle School for 10 years, he was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Virgin RC Church, Garfield, and was a member and former treasurer of the Knights of Columbus of Fair Lawn. Paul is predeceased by his brothers, Joseph Raineri, Leonard Raineri and his wife Angela, and Carmelo Raineri. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 45 years, Gaetana “Tina” (nee Benanti), two beloved daughters, Maria Celenza and husband David, and Cira Ochman and husband Stephen, four cherished grandchildren, Joseph, Kristina, Emily, and Michael, three dear siblings, Domenico Raineri and wife Laura, Domenica Sollberger and husband Robert, and Rose Raineri, a sister-in-law, Maria Raineri, and he was a dear uncle to many nieces and nephews. Paul will always be remembered as a patriotic man, with a gentle and generous nature who made everyone who knew him feel special. His family meant everything to him, being 'Nonno Paul' was his favorite title, had a smile that could light up any room, a foodie in his own right, and with an undeniable sweet tooth are just a few things we will remember him by. Visiting Friday 5 to 8 pm. The funeral is Saturday, September 2, 2023, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home at 8 am followed by a 9 am mass at Our Lady of Mt. Virgin RC Church, Garfield.
