Obituary

BOOTH, Reginald A. “Reggie”, age 95, of the Township of Washington, died peacefully surrounded by his family on December 19, 2020. Reg was born in Harlow Essex to Percival And Dorothy (nee Scott) in the year 1925. After spending his first years in Harlow he moved to Theobalds Railway Station in Waltham Cross Hertfordshire where he lived in a railway house. When he left school at 14 he followed in his father’s footsteps working on the train line. His father was a railway guard (aka conductor). Reggie worked as a Fireman on the British rail until his early twenties. He was considered an essential worker during WWII bringing supplies to the troops. He joined the Fleet Air Arm in his early 20's as an Air Mechanic during which time he served in the Korean War aboard the aircraft carrier HMS Ocean. On completion of his time in the forces he got a job working for Decca Navigation as an engineer, which took him to Persia (Qatar, UAE) where he spent his time in the desert working on navigation masts. This job came to an end with the unrest in the country and he had to flee back to England. There he took a job at De-Havilland aircraft factory producing the Comet jet. Production of the Comet jet came to an abrupt end. Reg decided to migrate to the USA in 1957 where he was employed with Pan Am airlines as a airplane inspector. This is where he met his Love, Carmelina Ballachina. They lived in Queens for a couple of years, while traveling the world. He moved to NJ in 1964, and started Paramus Heating and Cooling for 35 years retiring in 2005. Reggie was proud of his past in England and worked towards becoming a naturalized citizen of the USA in 1966. Reginald is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Carmelina (nee Ballachina), three loving children, Wendy Condos and husband Andrew, Paul Booth and wife Alina, and Gregory Booth, four cherished grandchildren, Victoria Condos, Jayson Condos, Vanessa Booth, and Sophia Booth, and a dear brother, Terrance Booth and wife Eileen. He is predeceased by his sister, June Booth. Visiting Tuesday 5 to 7 pm. The funeral is Wednesday, December 30, 2020, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home at 10:30 am followed by a 11:30 am chapel service. Interment George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus. In lieu of flowers the family is accepting donations for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The Booth family is in the care of the Aloia Funeral Home, 180 Harrison Ave., Garfield (973-340-7077).
