Obituary for Salvatore C. Macedonia

MACEDONIA, Salvatore C., age 100, of Saddle Brook, died on January 1, 2022. Born and raised in New York, NY 26 years, he lived in Garfield 26 years settling in Saddle Brook 48 years ago. He was a Merchant Marine serving from 1942-1948, a parishioner of Mt. Virgin Church, Garfield, and an electrical wireman, assembler and machine operator retiring in 1984 from Foremost Machine Builders in Fairfield. Sal was a member of the Dennis A. Roland Chapter of the American Merchant Marine Veterans, Newark. He is predeceased by his wife, Rose "Jay" in 2004, and siblings, Rose Lawlor, Cira Locascio, Frank and Charles Macedonia. He is survived by two devoted daughters, Josephine “JoAnn” Miranda and Lucille “Luann” Gesualdi and husband Charlie, two dear brothers, Carmine and Joseph Macedonia, five cherished grandchildren, Bill, Christine, Charles, Christopher and wife Carly, and Cory, and two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Alexandra. Visiting Thursday 4 to 8 pm. The family requests that you wear a mask. The funeral is Friday, January 7, 2022, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home at 10 am followed by a 11 am mass at Our Lady of Mt. Virgin RC Church, Garfield. Entombment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Saddle Brook.
