Obituary for Thomas Alexander Gomez

GOMEZ, Thomas Alexander, age 28, of Lyndhurst, died on May 24, 2022. Born in Hackensack, Thomas lived in Clifton before settling in Lyndhurst. Thomas loved to cook, was a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitso and for the past eight years worked as a Brazilian Jui Jitsu Sensei with both Mark Ramos Academy in Lodi and Carnicella MMA in Clifton. He also trained with Team Edson Carvalho Jiu Jitsu in Paterson, and was a North American Grappling Association (NAGA) Referee traveling to officiate tournaments for Brazilian Jui Jitsu. He is survived by his mother, Christine Gomez and step-father Kevin White, his father, Thomas Gibson, Jr., grandparents, Luz Gomez and Thomas Gibson, Sr. and wife Barbara, his girlfriend, Torah Palazzo, three siblings, Jordan Gomez, Brendan Gomez-White and Nicole Rodriguez, and his cats, Nova and Luna. Thomas was the beloved nephew of Kevin Gomez and wife Deana, Eddie Gomez, Jessica Gomez, Deidre Gibson, Lisa Gibson-Heyward, and Chad Stillwell, and a dear cousin and friend of many. He is predeceased by his grandparents, Edison Gomez and Joyce Gibson, and his aunt, Geanine Ervin. Visiting Wednesday 1 to 3 and 4 to 6 pm with a 5 pm chapel service. The graveside service will be Thursday 11 am at St. Peter’s Greek Catholic Cemetery, Garfield. In lieu of flowers the family is accepting Memorial Gifts.
