SZMYHOL, Walter, age 83, of Garfield, died on January 31, 2023. Born and raised in Krasnodar, Russia for 14 years, Walter emigrated to the United States living in Passaic for 12 years and settling in Garfield 57 years ago. Walter worked as a machinist 22 years for Nabisco in Fair Lawn, NJ retiring in 2004, he was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Kostka RC Church, Garfield, and was a member of the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union - Local 719. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Maria (nee Schneider), three devoted daughters, Denise Furiato, Lynda Alling and husband Robert, and Joann Montague and husband Brian, three cherished grandchildren, Nicole, Justin and Ashley, and a dear brother, John Szmyhol. He is predeceased by two siblings, Irene Schneider and Leonard Szmyhol. Visiting Friday 5 to 8 pm. The funeral is Saturday, February 4, 2023, with everyone meeting at St. Stanislaus Kostka RC Church, Garfield for a 9:30 am Funeral Mass. Private Entombment to follow.
