Obituary for Ciro DiSclafani

Ciro  DiSclafani
DiSCLAFANI, Ciro, age 69, of Garfield, died on September 27, 2015. Born in Manhattan, NY, he has lived in Garfield for many years.
He started working in the family retail grocery business at the age of ten, and then started his own enterprise at 16, a pioneer in auto detailing. Ciro received a BS in Chemistry from City University of New York and started working on a MBA in marketing at LIU Graduate School of Business.
Since 1992, Ciro has been coaching and advising people at all levels, from senior executives to entry level management on career planning, job search strategies and techniques, networking, interviewing, personal marketing, negotiation, entrepreneurship, and adjusting to new work environments. Ciro’s over fifty years of adult work experience has included more than seven career transitions, in a variety of capacities and industries, e.g., banking, stock transfer specialist, flavor research technician, flavor applications specialist, packaging engineer, purchasing agent, package development manager and group leader, packaging consultant, manufacturers’ representative in confections, OTC, household products, personal care, and cosmetics.
Ciro made his current transition to career coaching and soft skills training when he, with his partner and spouse, Louise, started Success Strategists. He know what it takes to plan, execute, and manage transitions. He has worked as a contract career coach and executive advisor for executive outplacement firms. The partners have developed and facilitated career development and management training programs for William Paterson University and various organizations intent on improving staffs’ interpersonal skills and workplace environments.
Ciro has been certified as a career coach by the Five O’Clock Club and the Workers’ Transition Network.
He has also volunteer his time to community initiatives, such as the Partnership for Community Health, a coalition of healthcare providers, health educators, government agencies, foundations and business professionals. He has also served on key committees for a regional chamber of commerce, a charter member of the Garfield Pedestrian Safety Committee, and a member of the Garfield Economic Development Committee.
He is survived by his wife, Louise (nee Gomes).
The Memorial Service will be at 12 pm on October 17, 2015 at the Friendship Baptist Church, 154 Gaston Avenue, Garfield.
