Helen  Ortyl (Opalka)
ORTYL, Helen (nee Opalka), age 72, of Garfield, died on January 2, 2016. Born and raised in Passaic for 9 years, she lived in Wallington for 11 years before moving to Garfield 52 years ago. She was the secretary for the Garfield Boys and Girls Club 30 years retiring in 2004, and she was a parishioner of St. Stanisalus Kostka RC Church, Garfield. Helen is predeceased by her husband, Edward Ortyl, Sr. in 2012, and her parents, Frank and Stella Opalka. Loving mother of former Garfield Fire Chief Edward Ortyl, Jr., dear sister of John Opalka and wife Regina, and Frank Opalka, and cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews, a great nephew. Visiting Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral is Wednesday, January 6, 2016, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home at 9 am followed by a 10 am mass at St. Stanislaus Kostka RC Church, Garfield. Interment St. Michael’s Cemetery, South Hackensack. The Ortyl family is in the care of the Aloia Funeral Home, 180 Harrison Ave., Garfield (973-340-7077).
