Carmela Bertola (Barcia)
BERTOLA, Carmela (nee Barcia), age 101, of Elmwood Park, died on December 9, 2016. Born in Marineo, Sicily-Italy, she emigrated to the United States in 1955 living in Garfield for 58 years and settling in Elmwood Park 3 years ago. She was a parishioner of Mt. Virgin Church belonging to the Rosary Society and the Sacred Heart Society, and she was a member of the St. Ciro Society, Garfield. She worked as a seamstress 25 years retiring in 1977 from Carolina Dress Company in Garfield, and she was a member of the I.L.G.W.U. - Passaic Local. She is predeceased by her husband Ciro Bertola in 1993. Loving mother of Millie “Rose” Manzo and husband Thomas, cherished grandmother of James Manzo and wife Fran, Stacy Zaccone and husband Steve, and Chuck Manzo and wife Alla, and dearest great-grandmother of Thomas “TJ”, Aaron, Justin, Miranda, Sofia, and Nicolas. Visiting Monday 5 to 9 pm. The funeral is Tuesday, December 13, 2016, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home at 8:30 am followed by a 9:30 am mass at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church, Garfield. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Saddle Brook. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
